About Our Principal

Mr. Peter Beukema is Professional Engineer and a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Civil Engineering Co-op Program in 1984. He became a Professional Engineer in 1986. Peter has over 36 years of experience in a combination of engineering, environmental and health & safety related projects including Hazardous Waste Site Remediation, Environmental and Health & Safety Compliance Auditing, Due Diligence Evaluations, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 development, and Environmental training.

Peter has developed and delivered environmental management courses as a part time instructor for the Niagara College Environmental Management Post Diploma program (EMPD) in Environmental Management System (EMS) / ISO 14000, Environmental Compliance Auditing and Hazardous Waste Operations. He has provided similar training services to many clients over the course of his career.

He has assisted numerous clients in government, healthcare, marine, chemical, automotive, energy, manufacturing, and mining sectors in the development, implementation, registration, maintenance and auditing of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems. He continues to assist clients with the maintenance, internal auditing and improvement of their EMS’s and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems and many other sustainability, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Peter has developed extensive experience in regulatory Environmental and Health & Safety Compliance in each of the Canadian Provinces during his career. He has conducted Environmental and H&S Compliance Audits for a wide range of sectors in every Canadian Province since the early 1990’s. He also and routinely presents at conferences across Canada on topics of interest to the profession.

Peter is a member of the Auditing Association of Canada (AAC) and was one of 58 individuals across Canada who received “grand-parenting” status in 1996 as a Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA). In 2000, he obtained his Environmental Management System Lead Auditor (EMSLA) designation. He continues to maintain these certifications with ECO Canada.

Peter is a member of the Board of Directors of the AAC, a role he has fulfilled since 2011. In 2015 he became the Vice President of the AAC and assumed the role of AAC President in May 2017 until his two (2) year term ended in September 2019. He continues to remain active as a Board Member in the AAC as its past president.
